Calore misurato vicino a Central
Fuori dalla copertura satellitare recente — l'attività qui è sconosciuta, non esclusa. No satellite detection does not mean an area is safe. Cloud, sensor timing and heat below a sensor’s threshold can hide activity.

Where the measurements are
Heat marks show satellite measurements. Orbit tracks are modelled; glow sizes and place-label positions are display context.
What each mark means
Footprint at this scaleVIIRS (NASA) 375 mMeteosat (EUMETSAT) about 1–3 km per cell · not drawn
- VIIRS (NASA)375 m
Measured positions. Drawn at true footprint scale, brightest layer.
- Meteosat (EUMETSAT)about 1–3 km per cell
Measures radiated power, which is what sizes the glow. Its individual pixel positions are not stored, so no Meteosat footprint is drawn — inferring one from the sharper layer would put a detection pixel on ground nobody measured.
- True geographic scale, corrected for latitude. Frame is about 48 km across.
- The glow means “an event, roughly here”. Its area follows the measured power and its radius is capped, because an uncapped one would assert a burnt extent nobody measured. The number carries the magnitude.
- Grey marks detections shown as history, including those on quiet or archived events. It does not establish that a later satellite pass measured no activity.
- A slate-blue glow is neither: heat one sensor saw and nothing has corroborated, or an event that has fallen outside recent coverage. It is not a confirmed measurement, and it is not an all-clear.
- Coastline, lakes and borders come from a generalised map with about 1,7 km between vertices, so treat every line as the shape of the geography and not as a surveyed boundary. It is drawn under the data and never over it.
- The dashed line is a modelled satellite ground track through the pass that produced the coloured detections — real published orbital parameters, measured pass time, modelled geometry. The swath is 3060 km wide, so where the satellite actually looked from inside it is unknown.

Verification ladder
- ConfirmedNot yet observed
Two independent satellite looks recorded the same heat; one power reading or one VIIRS detection alone does not establish this step. Sensori di conferma: sconosciuti nel registro pubblico.
- QuantifiedObserved
The heat here has a number on it — radiated power, in megawatts — and the number is what lets one reading be compared with another from the same time of day, day by day. Between measurements it says nothing. Measured by: Meteosat (EUMETSAT), VIIRS (NASA).

What each sensor measured
Meteosat looks every ten minutes; VIIRS passes a few times a day. The contrast is the point — between sharp passes there is no new sharp knowledge, only the ten-minute layer.

Questions about these readings
What has been observed near Central?
Fuori dalla copertura satellitare recente — l'attività qui è sconosciuta, non esclusa. No satellite detection does not mean an area is safe. Cloud, sensor timing and heat below a sensor’s threshold can hide activity.
When was the last measurement near Central?
17 ott 2026, 11:25 UTC
How current is the last measurement near Central?
No signals: safe?
No. No detection is not proof of safety: cloud, missed passes, sub-threshold heat or failed reads leave activity unknown.
Missing or misplaced?
Fuori copertura o senza osservazioni utilizzabili: sconosciuto. Soglia Meteosat circa 12 MW; VIIRS 375 m; Meteosat circa 1–3 km. Aree approssimative, non confini di incendi.
Data age?
Meteosat: every 10 min; median publication lag about 17 min, no deadline. VIIRS: usually 1–3 h after a pass. ANEPC: at least 600 s (10 min) between polls; no publication guarantee. Age per reading.
Sources?
