Where the measurements are

Heat marks show satellite measurements. Orbit tracks are modelled; glow sizes and place-label positions are display context.

What each mark means

Footprint at this scaleVIIRS (NASA) 375 mMeteosat (EUMETSAT) about 1–3 km per cell · not drawn

  • VIIRS (NASA)375 m

Measured positions. Drawn at true footprint scale, brightest layer.

  • Meteosat (EUMETSAT)about 1–3 km per cell

Measures radiated power, which is what sizes the glow. Its individual pixel positions are not stored, so no Meteosat footprint is drawn — inferring one from the sharper layer would put a detection pixel on ground nobody measured.

  • True geographic scale, corrected for latitude. Frame is about 48 km across.
  • The glow means “an event, roughly here”. Its area follows the measured power and its radius is capped, because an uncapped one would assert a burnt extent nobody measured. The number carries the magnitude.
  • Grey marks detections shown as history, including those on quiet or archived events. It does not establish that a later satellite pass measured no activity.
  • Coastline, lakes and borders come from a generalised map with about 1,7 km between vertices, so treat every line as the shape of the geography and not as a surveyed boundary. It is drawn under the data and never over it.
  • Place names sit at their own coordinates from an offline index of populated places. They say what is near the measurements — not that any named place is burning, and not how far the heat reaches.
  • This event is quiet or archived, so its detections are drawn in history grey — . This status does not rule out recent heat detections or mean the activity is over.

Satellite

Current facts

No satellite detection does not mean an area is safe. Cloud, sensor timing and heat below a sensor’s threshold can hide activity.

Verification ladder

  • ConfirmedNot yet observed

Two independent satellite looks recorded the same heat; one power reading or one VIIRS detection alone does not establish this step. Confirming sensors: unknown in the public record.

  • QuantifiedObserved

The heat here has a number on it — radiated power, in megawatts — and the number is what lets one reading be compared with another from the same time of day, day by day. Between measurements it says nothing. Measured by: Meteosat (EUMETSAT), VIIRS (NASA).

  • Linked to an official sourceNot yet observed

An official update has been matched to this event. Official information outranks everything above it. Unknown

    What each sensor measured

Meteosat looks every ten minutes; VIIRS passes a few times a day. The contrast is the point — between sharp passes there is no new sharp knowledge, only the ten-minute layer.

    Measurement record

Measured from 30 Jul 2026, 09:20 to the most recent observation on 30 Jul 2026, 12:30. Satellite readings in the 72 hours shown: 11, from VIIRS (NASA) and Meteosat (EUMETSAT). Highest single reading in that window: 48.3 MW, Meteosat (EUMETSAT) — 30 Jul 2026, 09:30, .

This is a record of what satellites have measured so far, not a statement that the activity has ended. Only an official source can say that, and heat can return to ground that has gone quiet.

    Questions about these readings

What has been observed near Gölcük, Sındırgı İlçesi?

Archived after 7 days without detections. No satellite detection does not mean an area is safe. Cloud, sensor timing and heat below a sensor’s threshold can hide activity.

When was the last measurement near Gölcük, Sındırgı İlçesi?

    30 Jul 2026, 12:30 UTC

How current is the last measurement near Gölcük, Sındırgı İlçesi?

    No signals: safe?

No. No detection is not proof of safety: cloud, missed passes, sub-threshold heat or failed reads leave activity unknown.

    Missing or misplaced?

Outside coverage or without usable observations: unknown. Meteosat floor about 12 MW; VIIRS 375 m; Meteosat about 1–3 km. Approximate areas, not fire boundaries.

    Data age?

Meteosat: every 10 min; median publication lag about 17 min, no deadline. VIIRS: usually 1–3 h after a pass. ANEPC: at least 600 s (10 min) between polls; no publication guarantee. Age per reading.

    Sources?

Official above satellite. ANEPC: Portugal only. Meteosat (EUMETSAT); VIIRS (NASA): Suomi-NPP, NOAA-20, NOAA-21. Suomi-NPP retirement planned 1 November 2026.
